Futurology's partner, the Swiss software development company PIX4D, has announced updates to the PIX4Dmatic 1.51 and PIX4Dsurvey 1.51 software.
Now users can:
- Easily set the processing area and remove the excess;
- Edit point clouds to reduce noise and improve 3D mesh quality;
- Conveniently combine projects using layers;
- Export control points of the earth's surface;
- Save and transfer unique works between PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey;
- Install any camera model that provides full compatibility with the internal editor and ensures accurate processing.
PIX4Dmatic 1.51
Taking drone mapping to a new level, the latest update to PIX4Dmatic provides several additional innovative features. Now you can edit point clouds directly in PIX4Dmatic, unlock advanced 3D viewing with new crop functionality, and explore camera data in more detail with the new Camera External and Internal Editor. With these updates, you'll enhance your designs by introducing vector layers and layer templates, and you'll be able to export your data in the universal .XYZ format, which allows you to export ground control points with increased workflow flexibility. The algorithm for better calibration has also been optimized, and DSM generation is now twice as fast.
PIX4Dsurvey 1.51
With the PIX4Dsurvey 1.51 update, the developer introduces layer templates for quick organization and seamless transfer of vector data between projects. This update also includes a more intuitive user interface, optional geometry descriptions, and enhanced manual registration options for aligning point cloud subprojects in your main projects.
Point cloud editing in PIX4Dmatic
Point cloud editing is now an integral part of PIX4Dmatic. This advanced feature reduces noise, thereby improving the quality of the point cloud itself and creating conditions for generating higher quality 3D mesh, DSM, and orthophoto plane, optimizing the entire data analysis process.
Cropping in the 3D viewer
The cropping feature in the 3D viewer greatly improves point cloud editing. By including a specific machining area in a 3D block, you simplify the task of selecting points in that area. This targeted approach allows for more precise editing of points, eliminating the risk of accidentally selecting background elements or removing the area of interest.
New camera externals table and camera internals editor
Take control of your project's calibration options with the improved External Camera Table and Internal Camera Elements Editor. These updates allow you to critically evaluate the quality of the input data, such as determining which images have RTK accuracy, while allowing you to fine-tune each image.
Expand your capabilities with the camera internals editor by saving your own camera models. This opens up the possibilities for an even greater range of camera compatibility, ensuring that the software adapts to your needs, not the other way around.
Layers in PIX4Dmatic and layer templates in PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey
Organize complex projects effortlessly with the introduction of vector layers in PIX4Dmatic and layer templates in PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey. This feature allows you to create and save unique layers for different types of vector data (e.g., water pipes, gas pipes, fiber optic cables) and transfer them effortlessly between PIX4Dmatic and PIX4Dsurvey. Together with layer templates, this feature not only simplifies the management of your projects but also speeds up your workflow by allowing you to apply predefined settings on both platforms for future projects.
Earth surface control point export, new geoids, typical CRS, .XYZ export, ellipsoids, and new language!
In this update, PIX4D also expands geoid models, now offering:
- Taiwan Geoid Model TWGEOID2018h (vCRS: EPSG:8904)
- Latvian Geoid Model LV14 (EPSG:4661+7700) altitude Latvia 2000
- Finnish Geoid Models: FIN2000 (EPSG:4258+5717) height N60 and FIN2005N00 (EPSG:4258+3900) height N2000
In addition, it is now possible to export ground surface control points (GSPs) and choose a default coordinate system from the updated ones added here. As a valuable addition, you now have the ability to export point clouds in .XYZ format, facilitating seamless integration with industry-specific applications such as Virtual CRASH and Map360 for road accident recovery and forensics professionals.
To make PIX4Dmatic even more accessible to a global user base, PIX4D has expanded the diverse language selection of programs by adding Turkish.
